Attention all runners and Disney fans! We have some exciting news for you! The much-awaited, runDisney Virtual 12K has officially opened.
Are you ready to lace up your shoes and get running? The new series includes three 4K virtual runs and a challenge this December. The best part – You can complete your virtual races anywhere you like to run – the track, the park, a hiking path, a neighborhood, etc. – and earn a medal for each run. Running all three 4Ks completes the challenge, earning participants an additional medal.
What a great way to kick off the holiday season – running at your own pace, on your own time, and earning some fantastic medals! This event is perfect for individuals, groups, or families who want to add some Disney magic to their routines. This is the latest addition to runDisney's exciting virtual lineup – the summer Virtual Series! I have already started lacing up my running shoes to conquer three 5K runs by August 2023. And yes, I will earn awesome medals for each race! I might be more excited about the medals than the race.
runDisney also offers in-person events that give runners an exceptional experience running through the magical Disney parks. That's right, you can run through Disneyland, Disney World, and even Disneyland Paris! The in-person events are inclusive of all ages and skill levels, with various distances available for each event. You can run solo, or grab your friends and family and participate in the races together, making memories to last a lifetime.
Each race is unique and provides an opportunity to experience the magic of Disney in a whole new way. During the races, you will indulge in Disney’s iconic entertainment, characters, and attractions along the way, making it more than just a run; it’s an adventure.
If you're looking for a challenge, the runDisney weekend offers Kids' Races, 5K, 10K, Half-Marathon, and Marathon events. You can choose to participate in one or all of them, earning exclusive medals and feeling a sense of accomplishment after completing each race.
Finally, the good news for everyone who is excited about the virtual and in-person events. The events run throughout the year so, if you are unable to make it to a specific location, don't worry, you can still join in on the fun and participate in the virtual series.
Chatting with runDisney ambassador Sanya Richards-Ross during Disney Dreamers Academy left me inspired and ready to add this to my list of goals. She reminded me that the first step is the most important one.
