So many of us awoke this morning excited to see that Disney released the full trailer for the upcoming movie, Aladdin. If you recall they dropped a snippet of it during the Grammy Awards where we all laughed at the blue genie, Will Smith. In fact people expressed concerned over this fact. The newly released trailer shows that you don't have to be blue in the face. Happy now? (get it)
Philly native, Will Smith was ready to discuss the importance of this role because we have to admit that the original Genie (Robin Williams) won the hearts of everyone. He is definitely bringing his own flair to the film as he raps a version of “Friend Like Me”. It's a spin that not most anticipated but I can already see myself rapping along with him.
The action-packed clip gives you a glimpse of some important scenes like the rubbing of the magical lamp to release the genie to Aladdin requesting to be a prince. Cameos from Iagu, Abu and Rajah are also included. And I can be pretty sure that most of you cried as you see Jasmine and Aladdin riding on the magic carpet while singing “A Whole New World” for the first time.
This star-studded film is part of Disney’s ongoing campaign to reimagine and adapt its animated classics to live-action films. Directed by Guy Ritchie, stars included newcomer Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and, Will Smith as the Genie.
Aladdin will hit theaters on May 24th, 2019.
Stop by and see what my fellow Brown Side of Disney Mom, from Life with Tanay, thought about the trailer. Don't forget to join our live discussion on Monday nights at 9PM as I am sure this will be a topic of discussion.
