The Greek Gods have arrived in Philadelphia by way of The Lightning Thief, the Percy Jackson Musical and Broad street will never be the same. Based on the American best-selling, Rick Riordan, fantasy novel of the same name, “The Lightning Thief” tells the story of Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon.
The musical opens, much like the book, and the imaginative staging and theater technique immediately pull you into the story for a continuous escapade. Percy Jackson (Chris McCarrell), discovers that he's a demi-god and faced with the task of finding Zeus’s missing lightning bolts to prevent a war between the gods. You will relive the stories about Zeus and Poseidon’s complete control of the sea as the cast tackles their own demons.
The common theme of strength is weaved throughout the performance as Percy and his friends learn that things that make them different can actually make them stronger.
“The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” will premiere at the Merriam Theater, January 22-27. Visit www.kimmelcenter.org for more details on tickets and showtimes.
