Don't even ask. I looked back over our summer vacation and realize that I was in a hotel more than I was home. It was needless to say an adventure….
My husband travels back and forth to London often for work and always encourages me to join him. It never seems to be the right time, as this Mommy always has a full calendar. A friend told me I was crazy and I agreed when she stated that her husband barely wanted to take her to the movies. I told my husband that I would accompany him and he was excited. Imagine my smile when I informed him that only first class was available and he said book it. I wonder if he knows what he started:)
To make the trip special he decided to book at a different hotel. We stayed at The Kensington Hotel. This luxury hotel is a part of the Doyle Collection. It is located at the Queen's Gate in South Kensington and is walking distance to most sites. We arrived earlier than the normal check in time so we had tea as we waited in the lounge area. I spent many days in that area drinking tea and talking with other guest. One day, I had tea with the President of Ireland and had no clue.
The staff was friendly and helpful. I was truly enjoyed the luxury, service, food and the wonderful drinks. Every morning we were greeted with a hot breakfast and every evening we found magnificent chocolate on our pillows. The decor was relaxing and the bed was extremely welcoming. I used my day either shopping or seeing some of the great sites. The staff would assist me every morning in making my decisions. They seems to always have a response no matter what I threw at them.
They did encourage me to visit Harrod's (which was not hard) this is hands down my favorite store. It reminded me of the John Wanamaker store that use to be in downtown Philadelphia. This store had everything that you could possibly want and I was instantly in love.
I am in the processing of planning my return trip and The Kensington is my hotel of Choice.
Have you been to London or is it on your “Bucket List”
Stay tuned for the next adventure….
The Kensington sounds lovely, I’ll definitely remember it for future London trips! Thanks for the info!
Good post however I was wondering if you could write a litte more on this topic?
I’d be very thankful if you could elaborate a little bit more. Thank you!
