Five Tips For Self-Care This Spring

I’ve partnered with Summer’s Eve® to create this post, but the opinions here are 100% mine.

The new year is well underway and even though the days are shorter, it doesn’t mean we are any less busy. I just completed my monthly calendar and I am trying to figure out how I would fit it all in. Home responsibilities, work duties, kid activities after all the holidays, hosting family and friends, etc.Just when I think I have it all mapped out, something else comes up. This is my life.

Sometimes, I feel pulled in different directions by good well-meaning family and friends, so I have implemented five steps to help me stay prepared to tackle the busyness and practice self-care.

Make a plan. I don’t know how anyone can function without a written or digital planner. I need to keep all of my activities on paper so I don’t have to rely on my brain alone. I always say, “if it’s not written down it doesn’t exist” This will also be very helpful in managing expectations.

Practice Self-Care. It is important to guard your alone time and only commit to doing certain things on certain days. It also means that you might have to occasionally say no. Give to yourself first in order to be emotionally and physically satisfied to give to others. Allow yourself to do “whatever” it is that you want without guilt. It can be as simple as getting a good night sleep or taking a longer than usual hot shower. Maybe create an at home spa experience. Personally, I keep Summer’s Eve® Cleansing Wash on hand and use it when I need a lift during the busy new year.  The wash is clinically tested, balanced to a woman's pH, and very gentle.

Remember to Reflect. Don’t get so busy this year that you don’t have time to reflect. It’s easy to get caught up in the New Year without thought. Focus on your why as it will make the busyness less stressful.

Be Prepared. As a girl scout, I learned early on the importance of being prepared. It never fails that while I am out and about, someone needs me to attend to a need or show up at an event. My purse pouch is like a safety net. I keep it stocked with some basic necessities. Always an extra tube of lip gloss, sanitary napkin, an energy powder, deodorant and summer’s eve® cleansing cloths. I never want to be caught having an odor especially “down there”. I am not particularly fond of public bathrooms and these cleansing cloths mean that I can freshen up quickly and without anyone noticing. Summer’s Eve products are formulated to work with your body to keep you feeling confident and fresh.  These great cleansing cloths are gentle and ph-Balanced.  They quickly wipe away odor-causing bacteria.

Avoid Perfectionism. Trying to be perfect can add unnecessary stress, so let others help you. Don't be afraid to ask for help either. If hosting a glamorous dinner party, throw caution to the wind and use paper plates. It means less clean up and more time with your guest.

How do you handle the stressful busyness?

  1. I must always have a paper planner as well or I forget everything! Me me-time is baths and planner time. I also always carry a little pouch in my purse with some Summer’s eve cleansing cloths to freshen up during a busy day.
