For the fifth year, Burlington has teamed up with Women Heart, the National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease to educate women nationwide about the importance of heart health. The campaign kicked off yesterday in New York City featuring a heart health panel which included Mayo Clinic's Sharonne N. Hayes, MD, Women Heart Champions and Wendy Williams.
During a lively discussion it was obvious to see that heart disease affects all ages and color. Many of these women were leading what others might assume healthy lives. They are mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, fitness instructors, vegans, administrative assistants but suffered some form of heart disease.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death amongst women and while for some it is present at birth in many cases it could have been prevented. Here are the top 10 tips to help your heart.
- Learn the risk factors
- Get screened- blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and weight
- Talk to your health care provider
- Eat smart
- 30 minutes of physical activity
- Watch your weight
- Kick smoking to the curb
- Manage stress
- Be accountable for yourself and encourage others

This Friday, February 5th from 11:00am -3:00pm Burlington Stores across the country will host free women’s heart health screenings in partnership with WomenHeart.

Wendy, WomenHeart and Burlington Stores have created a series of heart healthy tips part of the #HealthyHeartSelfie challenge.
