Don Cheadle, Ray Liotta, and Benicio Del Toro star in Steven Soderbergh’s new film, “No Sudden Move”. This 1950s Detroit-set film involves a group of small-time criminals who set out to steal a simple document but nothing goes as planned. On what was supposed to be an ordinary morning, General Motors midlevel acountant, Matt Wertz (David Harbour) has his home invaded and his family held hostage.
Petty criminals Curt (Don Cheadle) and Ronald (Benicio Del Toro), were hired by Mr. Jones (Brendan Fraser) start to realize that they were tricked and it now boils down to a matter of trust. And it seems they should trust no one.
Set in the motor city if is only right to find lots of vintage classic cars, suits and big hats. You get a glimpse of looming race wars and conflicts between local crime bosses. It is filed with excitement and lots of plot twist. The subtle nuances of racial injustice are visible in several areas. The truth often hurts and I hope when it was pointed pointed out in one scene set in a Black suburb that “it would soon be leveled to make room for a freeway” stung
I gave the movie 4 of 5 pumps. I loved the classic stars and thought Don Cheadle put on an amazing performanceTomikaTalks
