I am currently heavily involved in several activities The non-profits, my family,my church, my career and my social life barely leave me enough time to eat and just enough time to sleep. I literally do try to put my all into all of the efforts I have on my plate. Unfortunately one of the non-profits had a huge stumbling block recently. Thankfully these are national organizations, so little hiccups do not stop the whole show, but it surely puts a damper on my spirits.
Recently someone asked me, “Why do you do it?” Without hesitation I said, “I remember what it was like being a new mommy. Beyond family and really close friends, there isn't a steady level of support. I don't mean having a baby sitter, I mean someone that can objectively be a sounding board or actively listen.” It is not easy being a new mommy, and the worst thing you need is an unreliable group of mommys to keep you growing.
With a saddened heart, I had to make some serious changes to ensure future mommy's that wanted to be a part of mymommysneighborhood were not turned away in disgust. Then, as I was pruning the plants in the house I realized that pruning is just a nature part of growth. If there was nothing to get rid of, it would be an indication that we had stopped growing. So mymommysneighborhood will continue to grow to ensure we help as many mommys as possible. As we grow, we will continue to prune.
What have you pruned in your life recently?

I have cut back on saying yes to every offer. I have become more selective about the things I say yes to. There are only so many hours per day for me to do anything so if I before I add a new thing, I get rid of an old thing so I am not overscheduled.
