Holiday Toy Shopping

Recently I was able to attend the Big Toy Book Event hosted by Joey Fortman,  Charlene DeLoach, and Laurie Schacht.  Imagine an afternoon of playing atop the Hearst Tower in New York City.

We were introduced to the Hot 20 & Tech 12 toys of the year. I was elated to see and touch them before the holiday commercials and the “mommy please” starts. Here are a few of my favorites because there was no way to choose just one.

Laser Pegs: We call my son the LEGO genuis because he builds all sorts of things with them. I really liked these not only because they are compatible with what he already has but they light up which adds to the fun. The price is also very reasonable.

Tomy's Battroborg: This took me back to my childhood of Rockem Sockem Robots. These robots are motion controlled fueled by your fist.

Zoomer the Robot Dog: My children have been begging for a dog since we lost our dog a few years ago. I am hoping that this will suffice for now.  He's actually more like a pet than a robot. You actually have to train him to follow your commands and much like a puppy it does not always work on the first try. This one seemed to like my boots. My only problem is deciding how many to buy.

Doc McStuffins Get Better Check Up Center: I have been in love with this little girl since she hit the airways. This check up center allows your child to pretend that they are healing toys and giving healthy check ups. A great toy for the resident doctor in your house.

Big Hugs Elmo: Who doesn't love ELMO and this one can hug you back!

There are so many more great toys to choose from this year and I encourage you to pick up the November edition of Womans' Day Magazine and check out the Toy Insider for other ideas.

How do you let your children select their favorite toy?
