Disney After Dark- Adults Only

The invitation arrived and I looked at the dates and pretty much knew that the kids could not attend. My son would be preparing for mid-terms and my daughter wasn't ready to miss days of middle school so that meant Daddy had to stay home. I initially felt bad about attending alone but that quickly subsided once I saw the itinerary. Five days to do whatever I wanted- not really but after our sessions, it was all about me.

Check out my welcome party.

It wasn't really my party but Walt Disney World always makes you feel like you're the only person in the room.  Just don't always expect a parade:)  June 30th marked the grand opening of Toy Storyland and unless you've been under a rock, you have to know just how fabulous it is.  I was a very good girl and had hoped that my family would send me but it didn't happen, so I plan to send myself again!

Have you ever considered an adult only trip to Walt Disney World? If you have taken your children, I highly suggest a visit without them at least once. Here are seven reasons why you should.

1. Cupcakes for Breakfast

You know all those things that your kids beg for and you really want to say yes but know it's a bad idea? Now you can eat all things Disney whenever you want without any guilt. This was one of my favorite breakfast treats.

2. Time Constraints

With daily visitors exceeding 20 million, its pretty tough to avoid the lines but luckily when traveling without kids you can just go to the next attraction without tears or wait if you choose.

If Pandora's Flight of Passage is on your list, I highly suggest you wait or just keep an eye on the wait times if you didn't book a fast pass. This epic VR ride is worth the wait.  As kids, we thought dressing as our favorite character was magical especially if you get a picture with them.  But this ride – this ride is on another level of MAGIC!

3. No Height Issues

I am pretty certain that you are tall enough to ride without standing next to the ruler. Seeing the faces of the kids who want to ride and can't is heartbreaking.

4. Dole Whip

This is a must for any visit to Walt Disney World but did you know that they can add alcohol to it. Perfect for “not sharing”

5. Sleep

When the kids are in tow, you want to make sure that you take their little legs in account when choosing a hotel. I've always made it a point to be as close to Magic Kingdom as possible because I know that was always on the daily list. Adulting at Disney means I choose my hotel based on whatever criteria I want.

The Coronado Springs has recently been updated and I loved the look of it. I spent many nights sitting outside just enjoying it all and a few nights at the bar.

6. Nightlife

Did you know that there is so much to do once all the kids go to sleep? Most people tell you about drinking around the world at Epcot but  Magic Kingdom also offers an adult beverage at various locations and the views at night are beautiful. If you need more activity head over to the House of Blues at Disney Springs.

7. Shopping

Have you been to Disney Springs? If no, it's an outdoor shopping mall. Many of us know it as downtown disney, but this oasis has everything from shopping to entertainment for all ages.  Don't forget a “mommy” souvenir and maybe one for the family.
