Let the Countdown Begin

I must first thank everyone who has taken the time to call, write, send me a text, email, facebook and/or twitter post to wish me well on this journey. Your comments, prayers, and words have truly meant the world and kept this journey just a little easier to bear.

I must give extra thanks to a few:

Debi Fashion has items to help you look and feel even better. Just a little over a year ago Deb traveled the same journey. She has provided me has provided countless support and answers to my questions while keeping me styling.

These gloves were given to Shana Chimpky by another Survivor as a reminder to keep fighting. She was in the midst of her journey but never stopped checking and encouraging me. Now I have the gloves to keep fighting!
Jamila Rose who still has a few stops to complete but has kept her head up every step of the way while she continues to raise money for mammograms.

Let the Countdown Begin 3
This was knitted by a survivor who asked that it be passed to the next person starting the journey. The kindness of others makes this journey a lot easier to bear.

July 26th, I will check into the University of Pennsylvania hospital for a 12 hour (minimum) surgery. I will be having a double mastectomy followed by a free flap reconstruction.  The recovery time (approximately 6 weeks) will be longer than some other procedures but this seemed to be the best option to avoid a reoccurrence.  It will require a hospital stay of five days.  I guess God and my body was telling me that I needed a break. I sure wish I would have listened sooner. Never in a million years did I expect to be on this journey but I know that God has something greater in store for me so I will not complain.

What's your body telling you? Whatever it is please listen…
