I told my daughter this morning that she was attending an event where some of the Philadelphia Eagles would be reading books and once she let me up for air, she proclaimed “The Eagles and Books, two of my favorite things”. My book worm reads everything she gets her hands on and just can’t imagine that there are children who don’t have access to books.
The event started with a meet and great, followed by a group reading where some of the players read their favorite books and ended with a tour of the link. After that great win against the Cowboys, this was a great way to spend a Monday afternoon.
Santander Bank and the Philadelphia Eagles invite you to share the gift of reading this holiday season. Now through December 15, 2015, Santander is collecting books to support reading programs in high-need Philadelphia public schools and encourage students to develop a love of literacy through the inaugural Holiday Book Drive.
To participate, consumers are invited to bring a new book to one of 60 participating branches in the Greater Philadelphia area. Donate one or more books appropriate for kids ages 3- 12 and receive a signature Eagles-branded bookmark and promotional items. The donated books will be distributed among Philadelphia Public Schools in partnership with the Eagles Youth Partnership (EYP) – a nonprofit organization that serves more than 50,000 low income children in Greater Philadelphia every year.
During the Holiday Book Drive, Santander will host a series of supporting events, including visits by EYP’s Book Mobile and Story Book Man to Santander branches in the area and a holiday story celebration at Santander, as well as a “Books Build Character” reading event at Lincoln Financial Field.
